July 1, 2007 - - - MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST
“Put on then, as God’s holy and beloved people, compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, and patience. Forgive one another; and if one has a complaint against another, as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also forgive. And above all these things put on charity, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ reign in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And always be thankful - - - And whatever you do in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him” (Colossians 3: 12-15,17).

Gospel Words of Jesus Christ Our Divine Savior
25 It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. (Mark 10: 25)
From the First Epistle of Saint Paul to the Corintians
21 For seeing that in the wisdom of God the world, by wisdom, knew not God, it pleased God, by the foolishness of our preaching, to save them that believe. 22 For both the Jews require signs, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews indeed a stumbling block, and unto the Gentiles foolishness: 24 But unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. (1: 21-25)
Spiritual Thought Of The Week
From Blessed Are The Pure In Heart by Bishop Robert W. Finn: “Those who are called to celibacy are also called to chastity. In perfect continence they are to love God and neighbor for the sake of the Kingdom and as a sign of the life to come. “Chastity is important for all Christians and all people of good will. Chastity calls us to love as God loves. It is ordering our sexuality according to the plan of God. Chastity is how we love others in sincerity and truth.”
From The Imitation Of Christ By Thomas A Kempis
Book Three the Forty- First Chapter- - - “Lord, we are blinded and quickly misled by vanity. If I examine myself rightly, no injury has ever been done me by any creature; hence I have nothing for which to make just complaint to You. But I have sinned often and gravely against You; therefore is every creature in arms against me. Confusion and contempt should in justice come upon me, but to You due praise, honor, and glory. And unless I prepare myself to be willingly despised and forsaken by every creature, to be considered absolutely nothing, I cannot have interior peace and strength, nor can I be enlightened spiritually or completely united with You.”
From The Teachings Of The Second Vatican Council
SACROSANCTUM CONCILIUM (On the Sacred Liturgy) - - - #9: “The sacred liturgy does not exhaust the entire activity of the Church. Before men can come to the liturgy they must be called to faith and to conversion: "How then are they to call upon him in whom they have not yet believed? But how are they to believe him whom they have not heard? And how are they to hear if no one preaches? And how are men to preach unless they be sent?"
From The Code Of Canon Law Canon 341 §1. The decrees of an ecumenical council do not have obligatory force unless they have been approved by the Roman Pontiff together with the council fathers, confirmed by him, and promulgated at his order. §2. To have obligatory force, decrees which the college of bishops issues when it places a truly collegial action in another way initiated or freely accepted by the Roman Pontiff need the same confirmation and promulgation.
Catechism Of The Catholic 2339 Chastity includes an apprenticeship in self-mastery which is a training in human freedom. the alternative is clear: either man governs his passions and finds peace, or he lets himself be dominated by them and becomes unhappy. "Man's dignity therefore requires him to act out of conscious and free choice, as moved and drawn in a personal way from within, and not by blind impulses in himself or by mere external constraint. Man gains such dignity when, ridding himself of all slavery to the passions, he presses forward to his goal by freely choosing what is good and, by his diligence and skill, effectively secures for himself the means suited to this end."

“THOU HAST REDEEMED US, O LORD”
Today we celebrate the Feast of the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ. During His life the Precious Blood was shed at the Circumcision, the Agony in the Garden, The Scourging, the Crowning with Thorns, and supremely on the Cross of Calvary. It is important to note that at any time, just one drop of Our Blessed Lord’s Precious Blood would have been sufficient to redeem our world and any number of possible worlds.
Yet, in a supreme act of love, Jesus shed His Blood to the very last drop. He did this for two reasons. He showed us the enormity of His love for us and He showed us the enormity of sin. The mystery of sin is engulfed in the mystery of the love of Jesus Christ for mankind.
“Thou hast redeemed us, O Lord, in Thy Blood, out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation and hast made us to our God a kingdom.” The words of today’s Introit reveal that Jesus died for and redeemed every human person that ever existed. Then the Psalmist tells us, “The mercies of the Lord I will sing forever: I will show forth Thy truth with my mouth to generation to generation.”
In the Epistle to the Hebrews, Saint Paul tells us: “If the blood of goats and oxen and the ashes of a heifer, being sprinkled, sanctify such as are defiled, to the cleansing of the flesh: how much more shall the Blood of Christ?” We are redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb, Jesus the lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world.
The Gospel tells us today of how they broke the legs of the two who were crucified with Jesus. They did this so that they would die before the beginning of the Passover. When they came to Jesus, they saw that He was already dead. So they did not break His legs. But one of the soldiers threw a lance into His side and there flowed out Blood and water. We were redeemed! By His death we once again became sons of God and heirs of heaven.
In that moment, the Temple curtain was rent symbolizing that the Old Covenant was abrogated and the New Covenant, the Church, was born. The Church is the sacrament of Salvation, as Vatican II calls it. We are saved by the Blood of the Lamb through the saving mystery of the Holy, Roman Catholic Church. Praised be Jesus Christ!
