October 7, 2007----Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost
“Put on then, as God’s holy and beloved people, compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, and patience. Forgive one another; and if one has a complaint against another, as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also forgive. And above all these things put on charity, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ reign in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And always be thankful - - - And whatever you do in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him” (Colossians 3: 12-15,17).

40 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR LIFE, a time set aside for Tucson to fast, pray, and sacrifice for an End to Abortion and to make reparation for the sin of abortion, runs through November 4th. Volunteers are also needed to pray peacefully at a local abortuary on weekday and Saturday mornings. All participants in 40 Days of Prayer for Life are asked to sign a Statement of Peace and a Schedule Confirmation. If you would like more information, e-mail Sunny at AZRTLSUNNYT@aol.com or leave your name and number on the Right to Life Message Line 326-1542 and your call will be returned.
St. Gianna's Needs Your Help: As St. Gianna's continues to grow there is a need for volunteers to assist in the various activities of the community. If you would like to help out or have a special talent you think we could use please contact David Wilson (720-989-6672, the.david.wilson@gmail) or visit the welcome table at the back of the church. Some examples of areas that we could use your assistance are marketing, community recruitment, fundraising, social event planning, and youth activities.
Calling All Filmmakers!
Are you the next Martin Scorsese? Would you like to learn about the fine art of video recording, editing, and broadcasting? St. Gianna would like to videotape High Masses and other special events for distribution and possible broadcast. The purpose of this is to get the word out about the Latin Mass in the Tucson Diocese and what a wonderful community we have here at St. Gianna's. We are in need of volunteers to video tape the Masses and coordinate their distribution. It would be great if you have your own video camera or camcorder, but no experience or equipment is necessary. If you are interested in helping in this effort, please contact David Wilson (720-989-6672, the.david.wilson@gmail.com)
On Thursdays, St. Gianna Latin Mass Community sponsors a Holy Hour with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Confessions at 6 PM, followed by Benediction at 6:45 and Latin Mass at 7 PM at St. Ambrose Church, 300 S. Tucson Blvd. ALL ARE WELCOME!
Please note: If you would like to have a record of your donations to St. Gianna's for tax purposes, you must use your envelopes AND record your name and the dollar amount on the envelope each week. If you need envelopes or registration forms, please contact one of the ushers.
To submit an intention for Father Reinders to offer the Holy Mass, please put the request in a plain envelope and mark the envelope clearly as "Mass Requests" and just drop in the Sunday collection. This way Father has a written copy of the intention for his records and can record it when he is in the office. A suggested stipend, if offered, is $10, (or whatever you feel you are able to give). If you are writing a check for the stipend, please write it directly to Father Reinders since Mass intentions go to the priest offering the Mass, rather than to the parish itself.
Good News for First Fridays and First Saturdays of the month…..As you know, we celebrate the First Friday devotions each month here at St. Gianna’s. Father Rankin requested that he be able to celebrate the First Saturdays of the Month at Saint Melany’s. Rev. Father Rankin celebrates The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass every Saturday morning at 8:00am. Everyone is welcome to come and honor Our Blessed Mother’s request at Fatima for prayers of reparation.
Would you please consider donating for the purchase of the following:
1. Liturgical vesture…Each vestment costs from $300.00 to $400.00.
2. We need two reliquaries for the Holy Relics of Saint Gianna and Saint Therese. Matching reliquaries cost from $275.00 to $325.00.
3. A traditional set of Butler’s Lives of the Saints (for the Tridentine Ordo).
We thank you for your consideration…Several families could donate for the same item.
Help!!!!! At the V.A. Hospital, our patients are always asking for Rosaries and crosses for around the neck. If anyone has these items to donate, please put them in the collection basket…you simply cannot imagine how many patients ask for the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The Rosary has been called the preparation for contemplation and the Prayer of Saints. While the hands and lips are occupied with the prayers (it can and should be prayed silently when necessary so as not to disturb others), the mind meditates on the mysteries of the Incarnation and Redemption represented by the decades. Meditation is the form of prayer by which the one who prays uses the mind and imagination to consider the TRUTH and uses the WILL TO LOVE IT AND FORM RESOLUTIONS TO LIVE IT. In this way the heart, mind, and soul of the Christian is formed according to the Gospel examples of the Savior and His First Disciple, His Mother. In God’s own time, when this purification of the heart, mind, and soul has advanced sufficiently, the Lord may give the grace of contemplative prayer, that special divine insight into the truth which human effort cannot achieve on its own.” “Say the Rosary every day to obtain peace for the world.”
