September 23, 2007----Seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost
“Put on then, as God’s holy and beloved people, compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, and patience. Forgive one another; and if one has a complaint against another, as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also forgive. And above all these things put on charity, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ reign in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And always be thankful - - - And whatever you do in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him” (Colossians 3: 12-15,17).

Dear Brothers and Sisters of St. Gianna Latin Mass Community:
I was grateful for the wonderful turnout of people for the listening session on the needs of St. Gianna Latin Mass Community. Nearly 70 people attended and offered their observations.
I am pleased to appoint Father David Reinders as Chaplain of the St. Gianna Latin Mass Community for a period of 6 months, to be re-evaluated in March 2008.
Father Reinders will serve your community in its liturgical and community life.
At the meeting a number of people raised a concern about having their own church. I indicated that that certainly is a possibility when the finances of the community are stable enough to warrant such an investment. The community already has a restricted account with the diocese for a building fund and any contributions made will be added to that fund, which when adequate could be used to purchase a small church or build a temporary facility.
In the meantime, the community will continue to reside at St. Ambrose Catholic Parish in Tucson. Father Reinders will continue to work with Father John Arnold, Pastor of St. Ambrose, to coordinate the needs of both communities.
I am very pleased with the development of the St. Gianna Latin Mass Community and ask your prayers as I will continue to remember you in mine.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Rev. Gerald F. Kicanas, D.D.

Rev. David H. Reinders
Catholic Chaplain, VA Hospital
1302 W. Ajo Way # 321
Tucson, AZ 85713
Dear Father Reinders,
First of all I would like to thank you for your dedicated ministry to the Catholic faithful at the Veterans Hospital in Tucson. I realize it has been a difficult time as you have also been covering the Sacramental needs of the St. Gianna Tridentine Mass Community since the death of Fr. Richard J. Rego. Wearing two hats can be difficult over time; I appreciate your efforts and accomplishments working under these conditions.
With all of this in mind, I hereby appoint you as Chaplain of St. Gianna Tridentine Mass Community, an informal association located at St. Ambrose Parish in Tucson, effective September 7, 2007, for a term of six months, to be reviewed at that time.
It is my prayer that the Holy Spirit will guide and direct you and the faithful associated with the St. Gianna Tridentine Mass Community under your interim direction. We all believe in one God the Father Almighty and we all work together as One Body in Christ to build up the Kingdom of God on this earth.
May your Chaplaincy and those you serve be blessed.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend Gerald F. Kicanas, D.D.
Bishop of Tucson

Announcements:
To submit an intention for Father Reinders to offer the Holy Mass, please put the request in a plain envelope and mark the envelope clearly as "Mass Requests" and just drop in the Sunday collection. This way Father has a written copy of the intention for his records and can record it when he is in the office. A suggested stipend, if offered, is $10, (or whatever you feel you are able to give). If you are writing a check for the stipend, please write it directly to Father Reinders since Mass intentions go to the priest offering the Mass, rather than to the parish itself.
Please remember to listen to The Culture of Life Radio Hour. Our own Rev. Father Robert Rankin is a regular on the show. It airs from 4-5 pm Sundays on KVOI 690.
If you know of anyone who would like to advertise his business in the bulletin, please contact Claudia Borders at 298-1265.
40 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR LIFE, a time set aside for Tucson to fast, pray, and sacrifice for an End to Abortion and to make reparation for the sin of abortion, begins with a "kickoff" Sept 25 and runs through Nov. 4. Volunteers are also needed to pray peacefully at a local abortuary on weekday and Saturday mornings. All participants in 40 Days of Prayer for Life are asked to sign a Statement of Peace and a Schedule Confirmation. Sign-up forms will be available after Masses this weekend. If you would like more information, e-mail Sunny at AZRTLSUNNYT@yahoo.com or leave your name and number on the Right to Life Message Line 326-1542 and your call will be returned.
Please note: If you would like to have a record of your donations to St. Gianna's for tax purposes, you must use your envelopes AND record your name and the dollar amount on the envelope each week. If you need envelopes or registration forms, please contact one of the ushers.
St. Gianna's Needs Your Help: As St. Gianna's continues to grow there is a need for volunteers to assist in the various activities of the community. If you would like to help out or have a special talent you think we could use please contact David Wilson (720-989-6672, the.david.wilson@gmail) or visit the welcome table at the back of the church. Some examples of areas that we could use your assistance are marketing, community recruitment, fundraising, social event planning, and youth activities.
On Thursdays, St. Gianna Latin Mass Community will sponsor a Holy Hour with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Confessions at 6 PM, followed by Benediction at 6:45 and Latin Mass at 7 PM at St. Ambrose Church, 300 S. Tucson Blvd. ALL ARE WELCOME!
